Advanced Massage & Neuromuscular Therapy
Individually Crafted Relief
Massage therapy is recognized for its numerous benefits by both Western and Eastern medical traditions. In Western medicine, massages, including techniques like myofascial release, deep tissue massage, and neuromuscular therapy, ease muscle tension, enhance blood circulation, and soothe chronic pain while promoting relaxation and stress reduction. In Eastern tradition, massage is embraced as a means to harmonize the body's energy flow (Qi) by manipulating acupressure points along meridian pathways, fostering healing on physical, mental, and emotional levels. In Chinese medicine, it is often stated that where there is stagnation of qi, there is pain. Conversely, when qi flows freely, there is no pain. Massage modalities such as gua sha, tui na, and cupping are used to open up the channels to resolve stagnation.
By weaving together these diverse perspectives, our massage therapy approach comprehensively targets both superficial connective tissue and deeper muscle layers, including trigger points. This holistic approach maximizes pain relief and fosters comprehensive wellness for every individual.
Experience the advantages of massage therapy through our mobile massage services, available in Buncombe (Asheville and Candler), and Haywood (Canton & Waynesville) counties, along with sessions offered on-site at the Haywood Health and Fitness Center in Clyde, NC.
Massage Therapy Modalities
Deep Tissue Massage
Involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to target the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues, relieving chronic tension and promoting relaxation and healing.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Specialized massage aimed at identifying and targeting muscular imbalances and trigger points to alleviate pain and restore optimal function through precise manipulation of soft tissues.
Myofascial Release
A massage technique aimed at releasing tension and tightness in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles throughout the body.
Cupping Therapy
The application of suction cups to the skin to create a vacuum effect, promoting blood flow, relieving muscle tension, and facilitating healing. Cupping therapy is like a reverse massage by pulling tissues upwards. This pulling effect aids in loosening fascia, alleviating fascial restrictions, and deactivating trigger points, offering a unique therapeutic benefit. It's said that 5 minutes of cupping is equal to 30 minutes of massage.
Tui Na Massage
Tui na, also called Chinese medical massage, is a traditional hands-on manipulation treatment method guided by TCM theory. It involves rhythmic kneading, pressing, and stretching to promote the flow of qi and blood throughout the body, aiming to alleviate muscle tension, promote relaxation, and restore balance to the body's natural energy pathways. Herbal topicals may be used durring treatment.
Gua Sha Therapy
Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to promote circulation and alleviate muscle tension. This gentle scraping action helps to release stagnation, reduce inflammation, and encourage the body's natural healing processes. Gua sha can also promote lymphatic drainage and enhancing the flow of qi, or vital energy, throughout the body. Herbal topicals may be used durring treatment.
